Copenhagen and Organic hotdogs

because i can never afford to dine at Noma, world's best restaurant for 2012, which serves new nordic cuisine, i rethink my food options in Copenhagen.

being a big supporter of organic food ( don't get me wrong, i support greasy, unhealthy food too ), Den Økologiske Polsemand (DØP), a humble organic hotdog stand at the heart of the city caught my eye. especially it was recently voted by the locals as their favorite eatery, in a Danish newspaper.

Døp won't be hard to miss at the Round Tower, 52A Kobmagergade. everything on their menu is organic. from it's pork and beef sausages, to it's sourdough-linseed buns, to it's organic cola and juices.

you can have the sausage in the bun, or have it separately. also, an option to have mashed potatoes and turnips instead of the bread.

i had mine with all the toppings, im greedy like that. ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, fried onions, fresh onions and pickles.

this hotdog sandwich costs 34 krones, or about 250 php. a cheap find in copenhagen, believe me.

hotdog trucks scatter the city, and yes, i have tried them before. it was pretty much generic. the regular hotdog and buns you'd see everywhere. but døp makes healthy fast food, really tasty, healthy fast food.

the hotdog was delish, but the bread stole the show. and im not even a big fan of bread. this one is pure healthy goodness. it' s so good, even the pigeons want to get a taste.

don't forget to grab a pint of their Danish beer, Carlsberg. it's not organic, but what the heck.

Cheers!
